Interesting stats and does indicate some influence for sure. I know if I were American I absolutely would be moving to a free state. Canada is similar. The prairie provinces have traditionally been defiant to federal overreach. With immigration that has changed things quite a bit.
Thanks, Sandy. You're in Canada? I'm curious to hear your thoughts on the trucker convoy. It seemed to turn the tide against vax mandates, but tough to tell from south of the border.
The trucker convoy was a genuine phenomenon. It gave thousands and thousands of people from all across Canada the first glimmer of hope for change from a Canada that was rapidly spiralling into full blown tyranny. Millions and millions of dollars were fundraised from a truly grassroots population of Canadians - twice! It gathered people from across the country from all walks of life and from every province. It made people proud to be Canadian again. If you watched the news you saw how it ended. Tyrannical governments have to crush any opposition to maintain their grip on the throat of its citizens. Toss in the freezing of bank accounts and you deal a death blow. Did it open the path to the dropping of mandates? I don’t believe so. The governments made those decisions when they felt the most political gain was to be had. They hung their decisions on the “science” banner but it was completely arbitrary and based on internal political polling. I could go on and on but I am one of those that fully supported the protests. There are others Canadians that, based on the constant negative press and blatant lies and misrepresentation from the government-paid mainstream media, thought the protest was a group of insurrectionists. We are a divided country, much as has been exhibited in the US.
Thank you for sharing your first-hand perspective. I remember seeing the videos of throngs of people lined up in the snow waving Canadian flags and cheering as the trucks drove by. It was inspiring.
The public enquiry into the government’s use of the Emergency Measures Act to remove the protesters and convoy is presently underway. One of the convoy “leaders” who was jailed etc etc spoke how she felt she was carrying “the weight of the thousands of tears of Canadians” on her shoulders. Truer words were never spoken.
Excellent analogy with the pond, well, and the depth. I share the same concerns and know that MANY people have moved to Texas from blue states. It’s almost a steady stream of transplants. A lot of those who cross my path are conservatives who were fed up with what their home states are becoming. But maybe that’s just because of the circles I run in (filled with majority conservatives). I have heard stories about some moving here from blue states to escape the rapidly rising cost of living in blue states, but they hold fast to their very liberal ideologies. I want to point out to these people that if they continue to vote « progressive » they will end up living in the same hell they ran from in the first place. Just makes me shake my head.
My experience has been like yours. The vast majority of transplants seem to have moved here for the right reasons. I only know one person who claims to have heard new residents tell him they want to "turn it blue" here. Everyone else seems happy to be able to wear their Let's Go Brandon shirts whenever they want. 😂
I understand this concern, but I don't share it. As far as I can tell, most of the people fleeing blue states are doing so because they hate the ideology, not because they want to spread it.
Your point about people with shared commonality finding each other is very sound. I'm also concerned about the degree to which leftists have infiltrated all levels of academia, even here in what I affectionately call the Free South.
However, I would suggest another perspective. Leftist ideology is inherently unnatural and counterproductive. It is a cult. The only way it can be maintained is by brainwashing its adherents through constant repetition and reinforcement of its maxims. That's why its advocates rely so heavily on censorship and propaganda. In a free marketplace of ideas, it inevitably suffers by comparison.
To extend your own example, I suspect that you would be hard-pressed to find in many people in China Town or Little Havana who want to recreate the oppressive ideologies of their homelands.
So, while there's reason to be concerned that people from New Jersey will find each other in Texas and try to reshape their new state to look like their old one, I am hopeful that, free of the brainwashing, people are much more likely to lose any desire to promote the cult.
Agree, they probably don't realize that they are indoctrinated and no matter where they move to, they will continue to vote for the same bad policies that made them leave their state in the first place. Case in point, I know a couple that are democrats from California that moved to Arizona because taxes in California were too high. Then in AZ they still voted for democrats and their failed policies. Oh, they also live in a gated community although they believe in open borders. They just can't help themselves!

😂 I’m glad you’ve had the same experience because it does concern me that some of these dolts may try to remake their old home state.
The more aggressively their home states circle the drain, the harder it is going to be for them to convince anyone.
I agree.
Cheating was a “thing”!
